UniGradebook should be usable whether you navigate with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or voice control. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
We are not claiming to have met it completely. Below is what we have fixed and what we know is still outstanding, because a list of known problems is more useful to you than a claim of full conformance.
What we have addressed
- Every form control has a label that screen readers announce, including sign-in, sign-up and grade submission
- The whole browse experience — departments, professors, courses, search results — is reachable and operable by keyboard
- A visible focus indicator follows keyboard navigation throughout
- Errors are announced rather than appearing silently
- Dialogs trap focus while open, close with Escape, and return focus where you left it
- Text, buttons and input borders meet the contrast minimums
- Charts do not rely on colour alone, and carry a text summary and a data table for screen readers
- Every page has a skip link and a main landmark
- Animation and the homepage activity ticker respect your system's reduced-motion setting, and the ticker can be paused
Known limitations
- Some administrative screens, which are not reachable by general users, have not had the same review.
- Charts are hand-built rather than using a charting library. The underlying numbers are available as a table to assistive technology, but the visual presentation may not be equally useful at high magnification.
- Sign-in pages include a third-party verification widget from Cloudflare. Its accessibility is outside our control.
- Demographic filters are hidden when too few submissions share a value. That is a privacy protection rather than an accessibility feature, but it can make a filter appear unavailable without obvious explanation.
- We have tested against the technical criteria and by keyboard. We have not yet run testing with people who use assistive technology daily, which is the test that matters most.
If something blocks you
Please tell us — a specific report is the fastest route to a fix. Email [email protected] with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.
We aim to reply within 30 business days. If something prevents you from using the site entirely, say so in the subject line and we will treat it as urgent. If there is information you need and cannot reach, we will find another way to get it to you while the underlying problem is fixed.
